"This Brand-New Home Is Freezing"

When Andy and Louise Valerio-Prendergast moved from the UK to Perth in 2007, they were excited about their new home. But like so many Perth homeowners, that excitement quickly turned to frustration.

"We'd spent all this money and expected it to be something special," Louise recalls. "But there we were, sitting in our brand-new house wearing Ugg boots, trackies, and a wooly hat just to stay warm."

“It doesn’t make sense,” adds Andy. "Shops and movie theatres are comfortable. Why shouldn't your home be too?”

That moment sparked a mission: to bring better building standards (the kind they were used to in Europe), to Perth families.

From Liverpool Garage to Perth Building Expert

Andy’s journey started in a garage in Northern England, where he spent weekends fixing bikes, sweeping floors, and learning from his dad’s sheet metal business.

By 16, he’d started a carpentry apprenticeship. By 19, he was running jobs solo. That hands-on experience didn’t just hone his skills, it instilled his philosophy: do it right the first time, and always think of the people you’re building for.

Now, with decades of experience and a deep respect for the higher building standards common in Europe, Andy is raising the bar for what families in Perth can expect from their homes.

What 13 Homes (and 3 Kids) Taught Us About Family Living

Over 17 years, Andy and Louise built and moved into 13 different homes, each at a different stage of family life.
“We’ve built pre-kids, with one child, then two, then three,” Andy says. “Each time we learned something new about how families really live, and how homes need to evolve with them.”

That hands-on experience shaped the three pillars that underpin every project they now deliver:

European Building Standards

In the UK, double glazing and quality insulation have been standard for decades. Andy and Louise knew from experience how much these features affect everyday comfort. Yet most Perth homes still don’t include them.

“In a properly built home, the inside glass stays warm, even when it’s cold out. You don’t get those freezing drafts or overheating rooms,” Andy explains.

They’ve since adapted the best of European techniques for Perth’s climate, creating homes that stay comfortable year-round while using far less energy.

Real Family Understanding

It’s not just about square metres — it’s about the experience of living in a space.

Where do the kids do homework while dinner’s cooking? Where can teens hang out without noise carrying through the house? What makes a space feel calm, or chaotic?

These are questions you only know how to answer when you’ve lived them – and Andy and Louise have.

Space Maximisation Mastery

The average UK home is just 76m². Australians enjoy nearly three times that space. But without smart design, it often doesn’t feel any bigger.

“In England, you have to be clever with layout, light, and storage,” Andy says. “We bring that creativity to every Perth renovation.”

What Makes Our Homes Different

Every home we build or renovate is designed to make everyday life feel better, easier, and more enjoyable through:

Year-Round Comfort

With proper insulation, double glazing, and airflow designed to suit Perth’s climate, you’ll stay warm in winter and cool in summer (without needing to blast the heater or air con). It means walking around in a t-shirt in July, sleeping soundly through hot nights, and enjoying a naturally comfortable home all year.

Spaces That Work

We design living zones that evolve with your family, so your home grows with you – from playroom to study nook to teenage retreat. Every space is purposeful, flexible, and laid out to support both connection and independence as life changes.

Calm and Quiet

Acoustic insulation and thoughtful design reduce noise from both inside and out, creating peaceful bedrooms, focused work-from-home zones, and calm spaces to unwind. It’s a peace you can feel the moment you walk inside.

More Light, More Privacy

Strategically placed windows flood your home with natural light while protecting your sense of privacy. That means brighter mornings, more spacious feeling living areas, and the freedom to enjoy sunlight without feeling exposed.

Real Durability

We use high-quality materials and proven construction techniques that stand the test of time (including steel frames). That means less maintenance, better long-term value, and a home you’ll feel proud of – now and for decades to come.

A Building Experience You’ll Actually Enjoy

We’ve lived through 13 renovations ourselves (often with kids underfoot), so we know what truly matters when your home is a construction site. That’s why we’ve designed a process that keeps stress low, communication clear, and your daily life running as smoothly as possible:
